Double Degree Economics and Finance (path Financial Economics) LUISS – Economics NOVA 

The Master Degree in Economics and Finance (Financial Economics) is a two-years program at LUISS and students will attend courses offered in the first and in the second year of the program. The detailed study plan of the Master Degree in Economics and Finance is available on the relevant website section.

The thesis (work project) is an individual work at LUISS and it is one for both Nova (Directed Research) and LUISS. One thesis supervisor will be a Nova professor and one a LUISS professor. The thesis will be discussed during the official graduation session both at LUISS and at Nova. The thesis worths 20 ECTS at LUISS while the WP (work project) worths 42 ECTS at NOVA.

The following table displays the correspondence between LUISS and Nova activities in the Double Degree context concerning the LUISS Financial Economics for students coming from NOVA Master in Economics.

The list of activities you are supposed to take at LUISS are reported below the table, while all the courses reported in the table are recognized.
The LUISS’ general policy is to allow students who did not attend one or more course among the courses reported in the table at NOVA to attend the courses at LUISS, but attendance at LUISS is mandatory and LUISS cannot guarantee no-clashing in the timetable with the courses you are already required to attend at LUISS. Therefore, we strongly recommend to take all recognizable courses at NOVA, as in the best scenario described below.

  • Mathematical Methods for Economics and finance (8 ECTS)
  • Macroeconomic Analysis (8 ECTS)
  • Advanced econometrics ( 8 ECTS) – to be confirmed a possible equivalence with the NOVA Microeconometrics course
  • Financial Market Law and Regulation (8 ECTS)
  • Other activities (4 ECTS)
  • Final Thesis/WP (20 ECTS at LUISS)

Please note that in order to cover each 8 ECTS at LUISS a minimum of 7 Nova ECTS are required.  Partial covering is not accepted (e.g. students who take at Nova only Game Theory I and do not take Competition Policy will be required to complete the whole Advanced Microeconomics Course).

Students with NOVA as Home University may choose among 3 concentrations offered at LUISS: International Business, Finance and Management of Innovation.
The thesis (work project) is an individual work at LUISS and it is one for both Nova (Directed Research) and LUISS. One thesis supervisor will be a Nova professor and one a LUISS professor. The thesis will be discussed during the official graduation session both at LUISS and at Nova.
